From Doug's Lips To The Ayatollahs' Ears

Condi Rice appeared on the "Today" show this morning and could neither confirm nor deny that the U.S. has been in bed for the last three years with an Iranian spy. The best she could do was brazenly lie by claiming that the U.S. never backed Chalabi, despite the evidence that he's been on the Pentagon's payroll for years!

This is quite simply extraordinary. Doesn't this require a ringing denial from the administration? Isn't anything less a tacit admission that the administration has been played for a fool by a man who was spying for the No. 1 remaining member of the "Axis of Evil"?

During the Cold War lesser spy scandals were sufficient to bring down governments (see Profumo). What will be the consequences if it is determined, as now seems apparent, that Wolfowitz, Perle and Feith have been cavorting with an Iranian spy?
